Biddle Comfort air curtains are inviting
Shops and public buildings such as offices, hospitals and banks open their doors to make access as inviting and efficient as possible. The disadvantage of this, however, is that costly warm air escapes through the door to the outside and, as a result, the air becomes draughty inside. The resulting discomfort can lead to staff illness and drive away customers. Air curtains prevent against draught problems, and make it possible to keep the door of shops and other buildings open throughout the year.
An air curtain is a device used for separating two spaces from each other, usually at the exterior entrance. The most common configuration for air curtains is a downward-facing blower fan mounted over an opening. Normally this opening is an entrance to a building, and the air curtain is intended to help keep flying insects out. It also helps keep outside air out, avoiding cold drafts by mixing-in warm air from the air curtain. The fan must be powerful enough to generate a jet of air that can reach the floor.
Biddle comfort air curtains separate the inside and outside climates, by realizing in the door opening a laminar air stream that reaches the floor. In winter it prevents loss of energy and cold air entering the building. In summer, a continuous recirculation of indoor air prevents the influences from hot outside air on the inner climate. A Biddle comfort air curtain saves energy and increases turnover.
Biddle air curtains are the subject of rigorous research, always resulting in well-founded advice. The Dutch research institute TNO and the Technical university of Delft have found that the highest possible comfort and best possible penetration of airflow is achieved using the patented rectifier. Energy loss is minimized and the temperature in the premises remains agreeable.
